Doug's Electronics

Repair is our business-for over 40 years

About

Since 1981, we have repaired a wide variety of electronics - stereos, tv's, vcr's, antique electronics, sound equipment like guitar and keyboard amplifiers and pa equipment, and many other devices. We have for the last decade specialized in pro audio electronic repair - sound equipment. Doug is a guitar and keyboard player and recordist, playing even professionally back in the old days, so he knows what to look for in proper sound in your amplification. By popular demand, we are returning to also repairing some other audio devices - home stereo (see below for some limitations), antique radio and record players/phonographs (from 1920 - 1960s), tape recorders. Ask, if you don't see your item listed.

  • Guitar, bass, and keyboard amplifiers
  • PA systems
  • Electronic musical keyboards
  • Electronics sections of guitars, both electric and acoustic
  • Microphones
  • Some home stereo items
  • Antique radios, record players, phonographs
  • Certain other electronic devices (Ask!)

We service most brands. We service both tube type and solid-state (transistor - integrated circuit - digital (even Chinese-made). Some things cannot be economically serviced, due to modern manufacturing methods and parts availability.

Sorry, we do not offer factory warranty service on any product at this time.

About Stereos

We will be glad to inspect your stereo system needing repair, whether it is an older or newer one. Many are repairable. However, many new stereos may be uneconomical to be repaired, due to modern manufacturing methods and the unavailability of proper parts and service info needed to repair them. This is particularly true of many asian manufactured items (the majority, nowadays). We consider it shameful that so many are made with a design that means they can only be used until something breaks, and then may end up in a landfill either here or back in asia.

We suggest taking the cheaper units to a manufacturer authorized repair center, if possible to find one.

About Antiques

Many people today enjoy collecting radios and record players, phonographs, turntables from earlier decades, especially 1930s to 1950s. Many of these are of questionable safety to use today due to manufacturing customs and/or aging components, many older units don't even have safety fuses or use a design which unsafely connects one end of the AC cord to the metal chassis. We can replace those aging parts (exploding wax capacitors, anyone?) and restore these to useful operation, while changing some AC designs to greatly improve safety. We try to do this in a way which preserves the original exterior look of the item for your greatest enjoyment, while using better quality more modern components.

History

After Doug spent much of his teen years studying and redesigning electronic equiptment, and apprenticed at TV shops, Doug's Electronics began business in 1981, as a general electronics repair shop, repairing both audio and video products, as well as a wide variety of odd other devices. It has seen three locations in Jacksonville, Arkansas over 33 years. Audio repair has always been our subject of concentration. Since 2000, it's been our first love, pro audio repair. And now, we have returned to also offering stereo, antique, and tape recorder repair.

In late 2014, we relocated to the wonderful metropolis of Lonoke, Arkansas, 20 miles east of Little Rock on I-40. We are in the historic W.P. Fletcher House, near the rice dryer.
